The Sony ZV-E1 underwater housing is a powerful combination for underwater videographers. The compact form factor makes it perfect for diving, freediving, surfing, swimming or any other adventure.

Groundbreaking optical accessories take performance to a new level. Nauticam is known for ergonomics and an unparalleled experience. Key controls are located in close proximity to the photographer. The housing and accessories are lightweight and easy to assemble. The camera can be used without presetting, and changing the lens port is effortless.

The NA-ZVE1 features an integrated grip system. This ergonomic design provides excellent access to the controls, even with thick gloves, with ideal shutter release placement and a thumb lever to operate the AF-ON button on the right grip.

Nauticam's build quality is well known by underwater photographers around the world. The housing is machined from a solid block of aluminum and then hard anodized, making it impervious to saltwater corrosion. Stainless steel and marine-grade plastic parts complete the body, which is backed by a two-year warranty against manufacturing defects.

The Sony ZV-E1 Camera

The Sony ZV-E1 is a compact and lightweight camera that has a lot to offer with its high-end video specs. It features a 12MP quad-bayer BSI full-frame sensor and an ISO range of 80-102,400, expandable to 40-409,600. The ZV-E1 is capable of recording 4K 60p without sensor crop and 4K 120p with a small 1.1x crop, and offers internal 10-bit 4:2:2 recording with S-Log2, S-Log3 and S-Cinetone. It has a single card slot that is compatible with SD UHS-II. The camera does not have a viewfinder, but has a rear LCD monitor with advanced touchscreen functions. The ZV-E1 is equipped with a special AI processing unit that can recognize subjects in greater detail, making it a powerful tool for videography. It also offers a new image stabilization option and unique features such as breath compensation and CineVlog mode. The release of the ZV-E1 is exciting because it brings high-end video specs previously only available in more expensive models like the Sony A7S III into a more affordable and compact package. This makes advanced videography accessible to a wider range of creatives.

HDMI CONNECTIVITY

The NA-ZVE1 features an M24 bulkhead that supports the Nauticam HDMI 2.0/1.4 cable system, which can be paired with supported external monitors/recorders. Two of the most popular external monitors are the Atomos Ninja V and the newly released SmallHD Ultra 5.

PROFESSIONAL PREMIUM OPTICS

Optical performance is just as important as the camera, and it's even more important given the challenges of filming underwater. The Nauticam NA-ZVE1 uses the same N100 Port System as other Sony full-frame mirrorless bodies, allowing for a seamless transition for those looking to upgrade or add an additional camera to their lineup. While this system offers exceptional optical glass and flat port solutions for a variety of lenses, true performance can be realized with Nauticam's Water Contact Optics. This line of dry and wet lenses is designed with commercial lens design software to deliver truly unparalleled underwater image quality for both stills and video in macro and wide-angle situations. Although there are many options, we focus on the most compact and versatile setup that matches the travel-friendly size of the ZV-E1.

The WWL-1B is a wide-angle converter compatible with the Sony FE 28-60mm f/4-5.6 lens, offering a diagonal field of view of 130 degrees at full zoom! The WWL-1B provides best-in-class sharpness in the center, corners, and contrast, resulting in the best wide-angle images possible underwater.

CMC-1 and CMC-2 offer best-in-class macro performance for the Sony FE 28-60mm f/4-5.6 lens, with two different magnification levels suitable for a variety of macro subjects. CMC-2 has a lower magnification power, making it easier to handle and offering more precise autofocus. CMC-1 is best for the smallest macro subjects. Macro enthusiasts will certainly want both!

The WACP-C and WACP-1 offer an extremely wide 130º field of view with less distortion than conventional optics, a minimum focus distance of ~0", zoom through, and unbeatable corner sharpness even at wide open apertures like F5.6.

VACUUM CONTROL AND LEAK DETECTION

The Nauticam vacuum inspection and leak detection system comes standard with the NA-ZVE1. With the optional M14 vacuum valve (25624), this monitoring system provides continuously updated information on the watertight and submersible condition of the enclosure. A simple, color-coded LED lighting system indicates to the user that the vacuum is stable or that the enclosure is losing vacuum. Leak detection is integrated into the same circuitry so that an audible and visual signal sounds when water is present. The Nauticam system is temperature compensated, so false alarms due to changes in outside temperature or the camera heating up during an action-packed dive are avoided.
