200DL Underwater Housing for Nikon Z8 Mirrorless Digital Cameras

For the underwater photographer, the Nikon Z8 is one of the most exciting mirrorless cameras ever released. Nikon has literally taken all of the photo and video performance of their flagship Z9 camera and shrunk them down into a package that is easy to travel and dive with.

The Ikelite 200DL Underwater Housing is perfectly suited to making the most out of this powerful camera. Every element is optimized for lightweight strength, reliability, and field serviceability. The Ikelite 200DL the only housing that allows you to clearly see the camera and o-ring after assembling the system. Our products are made in the USA and backed by a team of customer service staff who dive and use the equipment.

No other manufacturer makes professional functionality so accessible. Our housings are designed from the ground up to allow full camera control and external flash connection, right out of the box. Advanced features such as TTL illumination and enhanced magnification viewfinders are available as needed.

Ikelite's DL Series lens mounts are optimized to be the lightest on the market and provide superior image quality. The materials used for our housings and lens mounts are chosen to maximize durability and corrosion resistance while minimizing travel weight and cost.

Vacuum system
The included vacuum valve allows you to pressurize the housing to check for leaks before placing your expensive equipment in the water. Use of the vacuum valve requires a compatible vacuum pump with pressure gauge # 47011, sold separately.

There is no greater security than being able to see your camera and o-ring seal through the back of the housing. Our signature open groove design allows the rear o-ring to hang in a natural position that is easier to maintain and more reliable than forcing the o-ring into a channel. Once the housing is closed, you can see the O-ring forming a solid, waterproof seal.

M16 accessory port
The additional M16 threaded accessory port provides a mounting point for third-party accessories, including HDMI bulkheads.
Add an optional USB-C charging and data transfer port for all-week diving without having to open and close your case.

TTL Exposure
With this housing, you can flash manually or add TTL electronics depending on your application. The included manual hot shoe with Ikelite ICS-5 bulkhead supports manual flash exposure with a variety of flashes including Ikelite, SEA&SEA, INON and others.
With the DL1 DS Link TTL converter # 46054 and a compatible Ikelite DS flash, you can enjoy the fastest and most accurate TTL exposure on the market. The DL1 supports rear curtain sync and exposure compensation can be added or subtracted in-camera.

Controls and setup
The shutter release and AF-ON lever feature super-sensitive and natural-looking curved levers.  Both controls can be extended with the optional shutter release extension # 4077.95 for more comfortable operation when using a right-side quick release grip.

All push button controls are machined and hard anodized aluminum to reduce weight and prevent salt buildup. The back of the housing is laser engraved with control symbols that will never fade or fall off.

The camera mount is front-facing for easy installation and removal. A small mounting plate is attached to the bottom of the camera and secured to the front of the housing. The camera mounting plate does not need to be removed from the camera for surface use or to change the battery or memory cards. The mounting plate has a 1/4-20 thread on the bottom so it can be attached to a tripod on the surface.

Viewfinder
The included Super Eye viewfinder provides an enhanced view of the camera's optical viewfinder when viewed through a dive mask. The viewfinder can be quickly and easily removed to attach an optional straight magnified viewfinder (Type 2) # 6890.1 or a 45° magnified viewfinder (Type 3) # 6891.3. The angle of the 45° viewfinder is more ergonomic when shooting underwater and provides a larger and brighter view than the standard super-eye.

Handling and Transportation
The body, tray and handles have been optimized to reduce weight while maintaining strength and durability. The right-side quick-release handle # 4077.02 (sold separately) can be added or removed as needed. The precision machined aluminum base features 1/4-20 tripod mounting bases and additional mounting options for future accessories. The base and handle can be quickly removed if the system needs to be disassembled for transport.

A 1/4-20 thread is located front and center of the body above the lens mount. You can attach lightweight accessories like a focus light or GoPro camera to this mount.

When shooting with two strobe or lighting arms, an upper handle can be attached to carry the camera to and from the dive site. Upper handles are available as cable handle # 4080.09 or aluminum upper handle # 4080.08. The rigid aluminum version provides additional mounting points for lighting and accessories.

It is highly recommended that a dedicated focus light be attached to the top mount or strobe arm to improve autofocus in low light conditions.

Construction
Ikelite's new ABS-PC blend front is durable, provides better contrast and visibility, lets your camera run cooler in the sun, and is significantly lighter than aluminum alternatives.

Each housing is made in the USA, individually inspected for fit and water pressure tested to 60m.

Non-Ikelite flash units
SEA&SEA, INON and Retra strobes with an electrical connection can be triggered in manual exposure mode with an electrical sync cord. Strobes without an electrical sync connector cannot be connected to this system unless they are controlled by a hardwired strobe.

Non-digital strobes from Ikelite
Older non-digital strobes equipped with an ICS-5 electrical sync cable connector can be used with this system in manual exposure modes.

Fiber optic (fiber optic cable)
Only fiber optic addressed flashes are not compatible with this equipment. An external flash must be connected via an electrical sync cable.

Remote triggering
Flash units with remote slave capability can be triggered (fired) by a flash unit connected to the housing via an electrical sync cable. Ikelite DS flash units support remote triggering with the Optical Slave Converter # 4405 or the Water Wizard System (manufactured and sold by Aquatica).

Compatibility
This housing is compatible only with Nikon Z8 cameras as shipped from the manufacturer. Unless otherwise specified, this housing is not designed for use with auxiliary grips, battery grips, eyepieces, LCD covers, or other accessories.

Due to differences in lens and control placement, other camera models cannot be used in or adapted to this housing. We are not aware of any other models that can be used in or adapted to this housing.
