The Nauticam Epic LT Underwater Housing
Taking full advantage of the incredible RED Epic and Scarlet cinema cameras underwater requires an equally incredible housing. The Nauticam Epic LT is built around the N120 port system that supports over a dozen Canon EF lenses.
The Epic LT weights in at under 7kg and its small form factor means it can literally fit in a backpack that can fit under the seat in front of you. The entire Epic LT system can be assembled in a matter of minutes! A top mounted Arri Dovetail Plate use used to mount the camera in the housing, and an intermediate "block" interfaces between the SWITCHBLADE Module and the housing. Controls need not be preset when installing the camera, and the camera can even be installed with Red's quick release plate mounted on the bottom.
Power Solutions
The Epic LT housing was designed to integrate seamlesssly with the REDVOLT XL Module and REDVOLT XL Battery pack from RED. When using this system battery changes are possible without removing the camera from the housing. Other popular battery configurations supported are Anton Bauer Dionic HC with Gold Mount Plate, and select V-Mount Batteries with a V-Mount Adaptor Plate. The PAGLink PL96 has proven to be popular with the Nauticam user base, and is fully compatible.
Integrated SmallHD 502 LCD Monitor
The Epic LT (16106) features space for the SmallHD 502 LCD monitor inside the housing and is visible via a window in the rear of the housing that includes a removable shade. The monitor sits inside the rear portion of the housing and swings out of the way when the housing is opened to allow unobstructed access to the batteries and monitor connections.
Integrated Vacuum Chek and Leak Detection System
The Nauticam vacuum check and leak detection system is shipped with Epic LT as standard equipment. Combined with an accessory vacuum valve, this monitoring system provides constant updates on the water tight and safe-to-dive status of the housing. A simple color coded LED lighting system lets the user know that the vacuum is solid, or that the housing is losing vacuum. Leak detection is built into the same circuit, so if there is water intrusion, an audible and visual indication will occur.
The Nauticam system is temperature compensated, eliminating false alarms caused by a change in outside temperature, or from a camera heating up on an action packed dive.
Features
Patented Port Locking System
Unveiled on the very first Nauticam DSLR housing in 2009, this locking lever has become a signature of the Nauticam brand. No twisting or threading action is required to mount a port, and it locks securely in place with this lever. Nauticam also offers locking port extensions, meaning a dome will never twist, even when used with a long extension ring.
Housing Locking Latch
The secure single rotating housing latch opens the housing back allowing for quick and easy battery or media changes.
Tool-free Lens Changes
An external lens release button allows EF lenses to be removed while the camera is installed in the housing and the internal focus/zoom gears can be swung out of the way with a convenient external lever to allow easy lens removal.
Cinema Syle Zoom and Focus Knobs
Oversized, Rubberized Zoom and Focus Knobs placed at the left handle provide precise lens control and feature erasable surfaces for zoom/focus marks.
Accessory Mounting
The Epic LT features several bulkheads, threaded M10 mounts as well as 1" ball mounts on the handles to support a variety of external lighting and other accessories.
